Here at Active Seniors we perform regular assessments to ensure that our members stay on track with their health and fitness goals. Here are a couple of quick tests that you can perform at home along with the average results of our members to see how you shape up!
One leg balance
Stand on one leg for as long as you can. Time how long you are able to stand on each leg. Make sure that you perform this in a safe environment with good support nearby. On average our members are able to stand in this position for 15 seconds.
Time yourself for 30 seconds and see how many times in that 30 seconds you can stand up completely and sit back down into the chair without using your hands to assist you. Make sure that your chair is secure as you do this. On average our members perform 12 repetitions in 30 seconds.
Tandem stand balance
Stand heel to toe and time how long you can maintain this position for with each leg in front. Again make sure that you perform this in a safe environment with good support nearby. On average our members are able to stand in this position for 25 seconds.
